Last week we launched our newest course: Introduction to Digital Fabrication and Technical Design. It’s the first part of a three-part program, DigiFab, covering the past and future of digital fabrication and how you can use it to create virtually anything you can dream up.

Building anything from scratch takes a lot of planning, and getting started can be the toughest part if you don’t know all the approaches you can take. Below, maker and teacher Michael Darling talks about the design and build processes common to digital fabricators, and breaks them down into simple categories that every maker uses to plan out their creations.
